Hello folks, it’s been a while since I blogged. Seeing that today is the “Last Sunday” of the year of 2020, I wanted to jump on to share a few final thoughts about this very precarious year.
First, let me say how “thankful” I am to still be in the land of the living. I’ve mentioned several times that it is nothing but the grace of God that has spared us. So many of our loved ones have taken their final flight this year. I pray for members of my own family, along with those of you that grieve the loss of someone dear to you, that God’s unfailing strength will comfort you during those weighing moments that their no longer present in this life with us.
Truth be told, I didn’t see this year going this way, I don’t think anyone could have even fathom what we would face this year. The virus, unexpected and untimely deaths, amid a country in chaos like we have never seen it before in most of our lives, depending on your age. It’s like having a bad dream that you so desperately would like to wake up from and realize you were just dreaming. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve experienced that feeling. Only this time, it’s not a dream, it’s a very real and harsh reality that we all are facing. It’s my personal belief that we all have been affected this year by misfortune and tragedy directly, indirectly, or both.
Talking about a year to remember. This is definitely one for the record. There was a lot of talk about what people thought 2020 held in store for them. The perfect vision conferences and prophetic words and phrases seem to have quickly turned into a nightmare of a year oppose to the clarity and blessing several spoke about. This year surely brought clarity with it, not as many supposed but as God intended. You see many had plans for not only themselves, but others as well. God has a way of showing us all whose really in control. Here we are in December, Christmas has passed and next Friday, we are embarking upon a New Year. 2021! Wow, take a moment and let that sink in. A whole New Year and just think, we have no idea what we will be facing as we enter into it. Sure, we have a vaccination but, we also have a new strain surfacing. The very thing this pandemic has taught me is that everything we know about life is temporary. It doesn’t matter how good you have it right now or how bad it may be, it’s all temporal. The bible says life is like a vapor it appears for a moment and then just vanishes away. The reality of this scripture stays with me more than ever these days. It appears that weekly we are receiving some form of bad news as an in-your-face reminder that life is not promise to us. Life as we once knew it, appears to be a thing of the past.
So where do we go? What do we do? This is where God comes in for the believer. We acknowledge the sovereignty of God. We may not always understand what he is doing, but we must always trust him. I coined a phrase a few years ago that says “Nothing gets passed God!” I can’t even remember what I was going through at the time, seeing that there have been so many things that I have had to lean on God for. Whatever it was, I can remember those words coming out of my mouth before I even realized it, I may have even said them to someone, now that I think about it, in reference to their situation. Nevertheless, those words brought a solace and peace to my spirit and I’ve been using them ever since. One, because I truly believe it. Two, because I know God is sovereign! Just thinking about it empowers me and frees me from fear of any uncertainty I face. He is an all-knowing and caring God, that cares about the things we care about! Therefore, whenever there is a crisis or a problem in our lives, he’s right there to help us go through it. Matter of fact, he already knows how it will end. Who better to look to, to help you navigate through a situation than our God!
With that being said, I am not ignorant of the fact that many may find themselves growing weary and discouraged due to our current state of affairs, which is understandable given everything that is going on. There are so many people in need of the bare necessities, such as food and shelter. Some have love ones hospitalized in isolation dealing with this dreadful disease or even other ailments. We have a Political Arena full of ungodly men and women from the White House to both parties of Congress, so much chatter and fighting with no results. It's clearly Power without Purpose!!! This is why we should find ourselves being diligent in prayer and eager to hear from God as we enter into a New Year. It is in suffering that we see God’s face the clearest if we allow ourselves. God at times has a way of putting us in situations that only “HE” can comfort us and provide us with a solution. It’s then we can see where our true help comes from. If we had the ability to sustain ourselves in every situation we faced, why would we turn to God or even need him? Therefore, there are times when God reminds us that we are in desperate need of him.
Life is a blind and undefined journey. There will be success, failures, pitstops, and detours. But, one day this journey will all come to an end. Where will your journey end? That’s the real question. We all have different paths we must navigate on this journey, but in the end, there are only two possible destinations, heaven or hell. Matthew 7: 13 says: Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it. Will you be one of those few? The choice is yours. This pandemic came to cause many to find God for the first time in their lives or to draw us closer to him. I read somewhere that God will wreck your plans when he sees that your plans are about to wreck you. We were in all types of wrecks all over the world. It takes an Omniscient God to know how to exact judgment and change all at the same time.
As we enter into the last week of this year, it would be good to take some time over a cup of tea to think and reminisce over the year of 2020 – “The Year of Great Uncertainty”. While you're thinking; "Thank Him". It is always appropriate to give “THANKS” to our great God even in the midst of very turbulent times. The fact that God left us here, is a testament of his power, his mercifulness, and his sovereignty! Romans 8:28 says: All things work together for the good of them that love the Lord. The good, bad, and the ugly is all working for our good.
There are many things 2020 changed, BUT God wasn’t one of them! Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ the same, yesterday, today and forever. The word of God is timeless and it STANDS the test of times. It’s my prayer that we find peace and rest in him no matter what 2021 holds. Hold to God.
Until next time…… Be good to yourselves…

Great thought!! May God continue to keep us. We know where we just came from out of 2020 but we don't know what God has in store for 2021 while we are rushing for 2020 to leave. May God give us strength thru this next year.
